Please take a look at the pets on our website. The list seems to change daily and every day we have more animals brought to us. We are inundated with puppies. All of our puppies have been through quarantine. All of our adults have been vetted. These dogs are “safe”, however, while we have them in our care we cannot pull the pound dogs that are so desperate. There are some great adult dogs and puppies listed. There are more dogs at the pound out of time and they are full and we are full! We need to make room.

Lee County Animal Pound is a small rural facility in the southwest of Virginia. While Lee County Animal Pound is not yet a no-kill facility, this is a goal we strive to achieve each and every day. We only have two officers for entire county and are responsible for the cleaning and care of the shelter as well. We do not have a secretary or shelter staff. We are in the office (unless there is an emergency) from 8am-10am Mon-Sat and we try to leave a message on the answering machine if we are not going to be available at shelter during these times. We are more than happy to meet with you at different times by appointment. For more information click here.

Save The Tails Rescue Group Leesburg, VA 20178
The Charleston/Kanawha Animal Shelter is dealing with unwanted animals in epidemic proportions. Last fiscal year, they took in over 10,000 animals and had to euthanize over 7,000. To put this in perspective, they take in 27 animals a day, 365 days a year! And, to really sicken you, they are forced to euthanize an average of 19 animals a day, 365 days a year! If that is not enough to make one stand up and pay attention, I am not sure what is! At Save the Tails we want to help. We are located in Northern Virginia and are willing to transport any animal from the Kanawha Shelter so that they can be fostered and adopted here in Northern Virginia.
